"On Fire": QUOTE OF THE DAY

"IF YOU'RE NOT MARRIED, YOU CAN BREAK-UP WITH ANYBODY."---KYLE FROM JAGGED EDGE

Y'all recall this jam from back in the day?

So...

I'm watching an interview with Jagged Edge  and the interviewers were teasing one of them for breaking up with a girl on this past Valentine's Day. His response is a variation of something that I oftentimes say to people myself. "My version is 'Better to break-up than to divorce'." His is the one up top.

My birthday is tomorrow and while there are *a lot of things* that I am leaving in my 30s, one of the main ones (praise Adonai for progress, revelation and deliverance!) are boyfriends. A 40-year-old woman with a *boy* friend, personally, feels (and sounds) like a bit of arrested development. Plus, people tend to not know how to do those kinds of relationships without going overboard. A boyfriend is not a husband or even a fiance' and yet, so many people act like they are. Have a friend. Grow and pray together. When *mutual revelation* comes that things should go to the next level, get some counsel (yes, I am a big fan of counseling taking place before engagement so that you are really listening to what the counselors are saying to you). If there is a progression of love and peace following, get engaged. Then, get married.

That just seems so much more orderly. And drama free.

Please it keeps you from doing what women with boyfriends find themselves doing far too often: when they see blaring red flags, when they sense that they are settling, when they don't feel completely at peace with their choice, they remain in the relationship anyway. Why? Because although they're not married, *they act married*. You are not married until you have a marriage license, until a wedding ceremony has been performed and until your union has been blessed by God and consummated by you and your beloved.

Until then, Sir Kyle is so right...

If you're not married, you can break-up with anybody.

And honestly, more people probably should...

Luxuriant,

SRW
