An Ounce of Prevention: (VIDEO) 'Are You Ready for Marriage?'
"Now the Lord God said, It is not good (sufficient, satisfactory) that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper (suitable, adapted, complementary) for him."---Genesis 2:18(AMP)
"A marital relationship is a selfless one and if you are selfish, you're not ready. Stay single and work that out."
That is just one of the "pearl points" in a video that I "happened upon" (Proverbs 16:33-AMP) today. Words cannot even begin to express how beneficial it would have been if I lot of wives that I counsel now had watched this video as single women. Indeed, a lot of women are so focused on being a *bride* that they overlook that biblically, a wife is a *helper* above anything else.
You're not helping a man if you have a lot of debt.
You're not helping a man if you have a funky attitude.
You're not helping a man if you hold grudges.
You're not helping a man if you're sexually sinning with him (or anyone else).
You're not helping a man if you're a shopaholic.
You're not helping a man if you're emotionally unstable.
You're not helping a man if you haven't resolved past relationships.
You're not helping a man if you're not clear about your purpose and calling.
You're not helping a man if God is not your first and top priority.
You're not helping a man if you're not whole.
Helper means "a person or thing that helps or gives assistance, support, etc."
Synonyms for helper include servant (all Christians should be servants), companion, aide, ally, backer, friend, appointee (God should appoint you to the wife position; not you), helpmate, partner and right-hand woman.
So, with all of this said, it's worth 10 minutes of your time to check out this video and take the insights to prayer. Better to know you're not ready on the front end than act like you're ready and not be of good help on the back end. Amen? Amen.
